Exercise: conveying character (cont)

Finished portrait.  I have completed the eyes in more detail by adding the shading to the whites of the eyes, and darkened the irises by layering up the red and blue to achieve a rich dark tone.  The same procedure also darkened the eyebrows.  Smaller areas of colour were also applied under the eyes to achieve the detail of the heavy bags under the eyes.  Once I had done this, I decided I needed to darken the left side of the face more, so applied a thin glaze of the greyish indian red/ultramarine/white darker mix to achieve the heavier shadow area.  Other areas were darkened slightly, include the shadow of the ears, the upper lip and the shadow area under the lower lip.
